GaitRite

Children with neuromuscular diseases often experience muscle weakness that affects their ability to walk and move effectively.

The Ambulate NMD project, led by physiotherapists at The Royal Children’s Hospital Neuromuscular Clinic, uses detailed gait and mobility assessments to support clinical decision-making.

This study combines advanced gait analysis technology and machine learning to develop predictive models of motor function in children aged 4 to 21 years who can walk independently.

Early results show promising predictions for key mobility outcomes, helping clinicians better understand and anticipate changes in gait and function.

This innovative approach aims to improve personalised care and guide future research in neuromuscular disease management.
