About the Gait Analysis Lab Champion: Danielle Johnstone: Danielle is a senior social worker at the Gatehouse Centre, a department at Royal Children’s Hospital. Danielle’s role at Gatehouse is Program Lead for the Sexual Assault Program, part of Victorias Centres Against Sexual Assault (CASA). Gatehouse Centre is a service that provides specialist sexual assault services to children, young people and their non offending family members or carers who have experienced sexual abuse, sexual assault or sexual violence, and/or have engaged in harmful or problematic sexual behaviour (HSB). Danielle is dedicated to ensuring children, young people and their families have a supportive response after experiencing the challenging issue of sexual assault, or who have engaged in harmful sexual behaviours.  Reducing barriers to timely assess, promoting self-determination and providing an inclusive and culturally safe service that seeks to understand the individual impacts from sexual assaults, or HSB, and providing best practice standard interventions that aim to reduce the long term impacts of sexual violence, or HSB, is something Danielle is passionate about.

Collaboration and Support: Danielle will foster a collaborative environment, working closely with clinicians, researchers, and other stakeholders to identify data-driven opportunities for improvement. She can provide support, guidance, and mentorship to colleagues undertaking quality improvement, EMR optimisation, and research projects, ensuring the successful implementation of data-driven initiatives.

Research and Innovation: By leveraging data analytics and digital health solutions, Danielle contributes to groundbreaking research and innovation at Gatehouse. She plays a pivotal role in identifying trends, evaluating outcomes, and driving evidence-based practices to optimise patient safety and care delivery.
